Skills Focussed:
Concepts to know before doing the drill:
- Basic catching and throwing technique
- Concept of attacking the disc
- How to do in-cut
Drill Focus:
Drill set-up:
- Players per group: 6–11
- Equipment: 1 disc per group
- Cones: Two cones placed 20 meters apart
- Lines: Players are divided across the two cones

Drill Flow:
- Run & Catch (Run 1 + Pass 1): A player from Cone A makes an in-cut toward Cone B. The player at Cone B throws a leading pass to the cutter.
-Dump & Continue (Run 2 + Pass 2 + Pass 3): After throwing, the thrower chases his pass (Run 2) to receive an immediate dump pass (Pass 2) from the cutter. The cutter dumps the disc back quickly at consistent chest height to facilitate a smooth catch and re-throw.
- The dump receiver (original thrower) is now in power position and throws a forward continuation pass (Pass 3).
- Rotation (Run 4): After the final throw, both players jog to the opposite line and rejoin the drill.
Coaching Points:
- Dump Timing: The dump pass must be flat and quick for an easy catch and immediate continuation. Encourage players to catch with a rim grip when possible to speed up their release.
- Cut Timing: The original thrower (making the dump cut) must not cut too early, or the dump pass will come behind him. Running slightly wide helps give time and space for the dump pass.
- Flow: The drill should run continuously, promoting quick decisions and movement.
Progression/regression:
- P: Power Position Deep Throw: After receiving the dump, the thrower is in power position (defender behind). Add two lines of deep cutters on each side, allowing the thrower to launch a deep throw after the dump.
